The colors of the patina are natural, all processes no harsh chemicals are used.  
A thin layer of lacquer covers the brass/copper connectors to save the natural color of the patina. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to protect the finish further. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (pendant, ring, bracelet, earrings, etc.) or can create decorative elements for accessories.
